I installed Fallout 3 (first game in almost a year and a half) last night and realized that my computer sucked balls ,even the low video settings. Even with that there were pixel artifacts all over the place! Not to mention freeze or stall. Wanted to know if maybe it could be my card or my settings. I'll install the latest drivers and report back.

But im looking in the price range of 150-180 bucks. I was looking at a local place www.enuinc.com

I currently have a nVidia 7900 GT (512mb).

Let me know what you guys think.

Yes it's very big. It doesn't leave much room around your drive bay. I'm set up to handle 3 of these babies. When the price drops a bit more I'm gonna get 2 more for the price of one. Nothing like a triple SLI set-up. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

Hijacking in progress.

Indy, how do you like those monitors you've got? Any negatives? I'm looking into possibly buying 4 of those as part of my home office remodel.. maybe eventually 6 total.

I've been running this monitor for about 4 months now and have no complaints what so ever. Believe me this 28" is huge. It's great for WEB surfing, gaming and general work related stuff. I especially like viewing WEB pages at 200%. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) The built in speakers I don't use or need. I bought it through COSTCO for $400 but I see it on NewEgg for around $350. It's plenty bright and contrast is pretty good. You simply can't beat the price for what your getting. I've read reviews about people complaining about excessive brightness but they are a bunch of morons that probably need help tying their shoes. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) There is a brightness adjustment. Just make sure you have room for this baby. It takes up half my desk.

Heh they probably have never heard of color calibration either. Yeah, I'm planning to have a lot of desk space, but I may end up mounting the 4 (or 6) in portrait orientation (4800x1920 or 7200x1920).. the other (more expensive) option is a 30" landscape primary (2560x1600), and 4 additional 20" 1600x1200 (such as HP LP2065's) in portrait orientation for a total real estate of 7360x1600. The benefit of plan B is having a main landscape monitor in case full-screen gaming happens. With plan A, if I care to game any, it would be windowed mode probably. Not that this is really meant for gaming, but rather for a more efficient game development environment.

After I get the desks installed I'll mock it up with my existing 24" monitor to get a better feel of the layout before deciding which monitors to get.

Either way that's one sweet set-up. You need to post a pic once you get things set-up. I'm jealous. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Yup will do. Gonna order the desks maybe this weekend or early next week. It was a feat of engineering to figure out how to get the best use of the small layout of the office. Almost like playing Tetris. IIRC, the desks ended up around $750-800 shipped, so hopefully my engineering skills actually work. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

The monitors though... damn that one's got me torn... the way the desk will be laid out, there could be some sharper angles.. not sure if the 28's will fit without some serious viewing angle differences (in landscape anyway).

Then to decide if I want to power it all with my C2Q 6600 machine or with a Mac Pro. The problem with the Mac Pro is their elegant styling (non-removable handle bars) puts the height at greater than 19 inches, so I can't mount it horizontally in the rack, so I'd have to mount it vertically on a shelf and waste rack space until another similarly sized unit needs to go in.

Sounds like your going to sink some big $$$$ into this project. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) You didn't by chance qualify for some of the recent government bailout money? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

If I took a job with a government entity, the loans would be forgiven completely after some time. But, this loan will be repaid and it'll be another tax deduction when the payments kick in.

The desks arrived and are now installed, all 444 pounds of them. Had to order longer video, toslink and powered USB cables though. Those should arrive next week and then I can move my display to the final location. And speaking of displays, I opted to stick with the 24" format as it will fit best for my layout and it will be the same format as my current 24". I ended up ordering 2 of these (with 2 more to be ordered in the future sometime):

Dell G2410 ($240/ea. with EDU discount): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/product...mp;sku=320-7956

Very no frills display, but highly power efficient, which is a big thing for me since I'll have 5 displays eventually. Besides, it would be irresponsible for me to own a hybrid gas-electric vehicle and then have huge power sucking monitors. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Not sure how accurate the ship date is, but they're not due until May Day. Probably lots of orders in the queue for this new model.

I've already taken some before and after pictures. Once the extra monitors arrive I'll post the pictures.

Trying to decide if I want to mount a 32-46" LCD TV on the wall in here too....
